In honor of Labor Day in the United States, we'd like to share this story from one of our own team members who recently went back home to Boston to enjoy the last days of summer!
Happy Labor Day from Boston, Massachusetts! This week, I'm mixing business with pleasure and hitting the road, taking on the East Coast for some meetings as well as a quintessential American Labor Day weekend. It's funny to go away for a long time and then come back home and see everything old with fresh eyes.
I kicked off the Labor Day festivities with a Saturday morning visit to the Marblehead farmers market. This market takes place in my home town once a week and it's quite the to-do in town. A band played and kids and families danced sipping the gourmet iced coffee on sale at the next tent over. I picked up some fresh heirloom tomatoes, Italian basil, yummy blueberries, and some crisp early fall New England apples. Yum yum yum.
Saturday evening my family and I ventured north to Gloucester, Massachusetts, famous for fishing, fantastic beaches, and The Perfect Storm. We gathered together to celebrate the 3rd birthday of my niece Charlotte. The birthday girl was decked from head to toe in Hello Kitty and was thrilled to get a princess scooter, activity books, and shin pads, socks, and a soccer ball to start soccer in the fall.
After dinner we walked down to the beach for fireworks and the Cape Ann lighted boat parade. Around 9pm the draw bridge opened and dozens of boats lit up with brightly colored lights passed by the harbor. What a treat to have fireworks and a boat parade for a birthday and Labor Day!
