New York City has a lot to offer: huge parks, exquisite museums, towering skyscrapers, flashing lights, (and the list goes on and on). However, it could be easy for your little one to get overwhelmed by the city that never sleeps. Venture to these kid approved places in order for the whole family to happily take a bite out of the Big Apple.

1.) Central Park

A visit to NYC would be incomplete without a visit to the worlds most famous city center. Central Park is an urban oasis filled with opportunity, and kids will love to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether it's scrambling up Umpire Rock or racing a remote-controlled motorboat on the Conservatory Water (think Stuart Little), little ones will have a wonderful day of adventure at Central Park.

2.) Rockefeller Center

Regardless of the season kids will have a ball at Rockefeller Center's numerous attractions. In the winter, the area offers the brilliant experience of ice-skating in the shadow of an enormous Christmas tree. The Lego Store and Nintendo World are also definite kid-pleasers. Parents will enjoy seeing the plaza where NBC's Today Show is produced and everyone's mouth will be watering after a stop in Teuscher Chocolate Shop for the world's best champagne truffles (flown in fresh from Switzerland).

3.) NYC from Above

For the most spectacular views of the five boroughs, skip the Empire State Building and instead climb to the Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center. Kids will love the Breezeway, an interactive room full of colorful lights, on the way up. From the top, witness stunning sights of the Empire State Building and Central Park! Snag your tickets at to avoid lines and don't forget your camera!

4.) Madison Square Park Conservancy

At the fabulous Madison Square Park prepare to be captivated by lovely gardens while your kids run wild in the exciting playground. A stop at the Shake Shack is a necessity! This high quality food kiosk offers amazing burgers, hot dogs, and (you guessed it!) shakes. Enjoy the food at one of the nearby tables or have a charming picnic in one of the neighboring grassy areas.

5.) Times Square

Visit the "crossroads of the world" at Times Square to be mesmerized by the plethora of lights and people in the pedestrian only area. Make sure to venture into the spectacular FAO Schwarz (youngsters will LOVE to play on the piano from the movie Big) and get your color mood analyzed at M&M World.

Broadway shows are also a guaranteed hit with the family, especially Mary Poppins, the Lion King, and the Little Mermaid. Make sure to visit these and other kid-friendly places during your next visit to the Big Apple (your kiddos will be begging to return!).
