There’s so much to see in London and not all of it you could possibly do in a day, but if I was to plan the most perfect day in London with my two young children, it would have to start at the ultimate sight-seeing destination, Buckingham Palace! From here we would simply wander around the front gates, say hello to the guards, check out the fountain and wander casually down The Mall.
We would then head into Trafalgar Square to see Nelsons Column, the lions and some more iconic picture shots! From here we would treat the kids to visiting one of the most iconic toy shops in the world, Hamleys and stand in awe of all the toys on show!
A few £££ later we would either walk to Covent Garden or nip on the tube at Oxford Circus, but beware if you get the tube to Covent Garden station, there’s no escalators, only a few elevators and a spiral staircase…we naively opted for the staircase, be prepared for a long walk up!!
Covent Garden is a bustling area of London with street artists, magicians and musicians that you could stand and watch for ages, for country bumpkins like us, this was quite the eye-opener for the boys as they’d not seen anything like it! There’s loads of restaurants and cafés to choose from here and one that has just opened which I’m keen to try next time we’re there is the Shake Shack, a popular burger chain from America.
We would then spend the remainder of the afternoon in one of the many museums that London has to offer, depending on what we fancy, this could be the Natural History Museum, the Science museum or the Imperial War Museum.
